Kozinec near Nová Paka - hiking trip to lookout tower

Bohemian Paradise

Nová Paka region is very interesting because of its minerals. In town surrounding areas one can find agate and other precious kinds of quartz, in the sediments of last period of paleozoic: fossils of tree trunks, and in some of the creeks we could be rinsing gold.

Length of routh: 11,8 km

For persons interested in mineralogy we advise to visit Nová Paka, where mineral collection can be seen in the Town Museum. There is also the abbey from the second half of the 17th century, where nowadays is a hospital, and a small wooden orthodox church which was moved in during period between the two World Wars from Tras-Carpatian region. From the lookout tower to the town we will be walking along the green track. To return to Vidochov we can walk the blue track in Borovnice direction. After getting to the village end of Vrchovina we will go to the left on a road through the farm fields in northern direction. This road will lead us to Vidochov. Second possibility is to go one more kilometre down the blue trail. In a place where the trail is suddenly turning right we do not change direction, and we will get to Vidochov. As a direction indicator serves us the lookout tower.
