Welcome to Jicin

Jičín is a culturally and historically gifted town. Tourists have been visiting Jičín since the 19th century, interested in legacy of the general and politician Albrecht Vaclav Eusebius of Valdstejn and also stories of a robber Rumcajs. Jičín is a town of fairy tales, reviving them in annual Jičín-Město pohádek Festival.

The stone lookout tower Milohlídka at Čeřovka was built by an order of Jičín Governor Hansgirg in the year 1843.

The two-storied square tower stands on the edge of a basalt quarry but any view is prevented by grown trees.

Albrecht von Wallenstein (hero of The Thirty Year War and the richest man after the emperor in Austrian monarchy) thinking about his landscape compositions, really had where to take his ideas from. Volcanic hills near Jičín bring special character to the valley. On the hill Veliš once was a castle, on Zebín is even now a chapel, and between the two of them is the summit Čeřovka. Its location near Valdice Alley encourages a walk rather than a long excursion.
